Conference
The DECHEMA/VDI annual conference of the “High Pressure Process Engineering” specialist group at Graz University of Technology once again brought together researchers from science and industry this year to discuss current developments and future topics in high pressure process engineering. Our chair was represented with three posters and also contributed two presentations to the scientific program.
We presented our latest findings in sustainable ethylene synthesis and the catalytic conversion of technical lignin into polyols. In addition, the conference offered exciting insights into the latest developments in high-pressure process engineering, including in the areas of hydrogen thermodynamics, supercritical CO₂ extraction, and aerogel processing. We found the professional exchange with other researchers from universities, non-university institutes, and industry on current issues relating to sustainable processes, carbon utilization, and high-pressure processes particularly valuable.
Publication
Our recent publication compares the pipeline transport of hydrogen and methane, examines the optimal location of methane pyrolysis plants to produce “blue” hydrogen, looks at energy efficiency and environmental impacts and presents innovative approaches to a low-carbon, low-emission energy future.
Publication
We would like to draw your attention to a new publication entitled “Efficiency and optimal load capacity of E-Fuel-Based energy storage systems”.
Publication
We would like to draw your attention to a new paper entitled “Solvent Effect in Catalytic Lignin Hydrogenolysis”.
Publication
We would like to draw your attention to a new publication entitled “Green, Turquoise, Blue, or Grey? Environmentally friendly Hydrogen Production in Transforming Energy Systems”.
Conference
Our eagerly awaited 2nd conference “the hydrogen engine” took place in Karlsruhe-Durlach.
Conference
On February 23–24, 2026, the final conference "Zukunft Grundstoffindustrie: Forschung, Transformation und Klimaziele" of the BMFTR funding initiative “KlimPro-Industrie – Vermeidung von klimaschädlichen Prozessemissionen in der Industrie” took place in the Humboldt Carré in Berlin. The event brought together researchers, industry representatives, and project partners to present results from the first funding phase and introduce new projects for the second phase. Professor Dr. Müller presented the project “SynGas2Ethen – Towards Sustainable Ethene Production: Modified Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis from CO₂ and H₂,” which deals with sustainable routes for ethene production from CO₂ and hydrogen.
In addition to presentations, keynotes, and panel discussions, the conference offered numerous opportunities for professional exchange and the initiation of new collaborations in the field of industrial greenhouse gas reduction.
Defense
We are pleased to announce that our colleague Giampiero P. Sorrentino successfully defended his PhD thesis on February 6th, 2025.
His dissertation titled "Carbon Capture through Accelerated Carbonation and Enhanced Stabilization of Industrial Alkaline Residues", explores innovative strategies for CO₂ sequestration and the valorization of industrial residue materials through advanced carbonation processes.
Congratulations, Dr.-Ing. Sorrentino, on this important milestone!
Publication
We would like to draw your attention to a new publication entitled “The environmental impact of renewable hydrogen supply chains: Local vs. remote production and long-distance hydrogen transport”.
Publication
We would like to draw your attention to a new publication entitled “Hydrogen transport in large-scale transmission pipeline networks: Thermodynamic and environmental assessment of repurposed and new pipeline configurations”.
Conference
In line with the motto of the SUMMIT “How can we achieve the climate, resource and mobility transition in this decade?”, CSC is developing innovative chemical processes with leading industrial partners and demonstrating the relevance of its work for the implementation of a “green economy”.
