Aim of the CSC Chair

The purpose of the chair „Carbon Sources and Conversion“is to develop fundamental and application-oriented research concepts for a sustainable carbon utilization as well as to transfer this knowledge in terms of teaching and training.

The focus here is on tapping carbon from domestic, industrial and regenerative sources, developing process technologies for conversion and products, and on researching the foundations of technical carbon circulations.

The goal is to demonstrate economically and ecologically reasonable conversion technologies for sustainably available sources of raw materials on laboratory and pilot scales. For this purpose, the chair cooperates with the “Innovationszentrum Kohle” in Niederaußem, of the RWE Power AG as well as the Fraunhofer-Institution UMSICHT in Oberhausen – using the laboratories and site infrastructures available in each facility.
